On March 11th, under the bright spotlight, the large screen continuously showcased the latest advancements in innovative artificial intelligence applications. Before the judging panel, teams from various countries confidently presented their intelligent solutions. This AI competition, gathering the innovative talents of global youth, brought the 2024 China-ASEAN College Student's AI Application Innovation Competition to a successful conclusion.

Focusing on AI Application Innovation, Showcasing Youth Innovation Power


With the theme of "Integrative Innovation in AI and Education, Jointly Cultivating Digital Modern Skilled Talents," this competition attracted 168 teams from 39 universities across seven countries: China, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore. The participating projects spanned fields such as smart agriculture, new energy, cross-border trade, AI + industrial design, AI + e-commerce, AI + cultural communication, AI + supply chain management, and AI + ocean exploration, raising the level of innovation vitality to new heights.

During the final roadshow, participants showcased innovative solutions leveraging AI technology to address real-world problems, such as AI-based intelligent dispatch systems for new energy, smart agricultural irrigation, and intelligent health monitoring devices. These presentations demonstrated the young students' deep insights into technological applications and societal needs.


In his speech, President Lee Sze Wei, President of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, Malaysia, stated that this competition was not only a showcase of talent and intelligence but also a vivid demonstration of AI-driven innovation. He expressed hope that this international cooperative platform would promote the development of the digital economy and deepen academic and technological exchanges between China and ASEAN countries.


Promoting Learning through Competition, Deepening China-Malaysia Cooperation in Digital Talent Development


This competition provided young students with opportunities to showcase innovative achievements and exchange academic ideas, sparking their enthusiasm for deeper exploration and research in the digital economy. At the same time, it served as a bridge for cooperation between China and Malaysia in education, technology, and other fields, further strengthening the friendship between the two countries and promoting collaboration in cultivating digital economy talents.

It also aligned perfectly with the original intention of the event—to foster a virtuous cycle of education, technology, and talent, and cultivate more outstanding individuals.

Building a Smart Future Together, Empowering Regional Digital Economic Development


Following an intense competition, the project Smart irrigation enables the leader of high-standard farmland by the Runtian Zhixing team from Guangxi Finance Vocational College won gold award, the project Al Empowers New Chapter for Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Al Empowers the Baikuyao Ethnic Group from Guangxi International Business Vocational College and SicnoMind by XiaoBao team from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation received the Silver Award. Furthermore, the bronze awards were granted to The Pioneer of ASEAN Fresh Produce Supply Chain Transformation Based on Federated Learning and Multimodal Transport Optimization by Cold Dome Federation team from University of Malaya, Algnite by Malaysia Al Trinity team from Tunku Abudul Rahman University of Management and Technology, Malaysia and SmartLearn AI by SmartEd Pioneers team by Beijing Institute of Technology. In addition, the competition also selected three winners for both the Most Creativity Award and the Most Potential Award.


These winning projects not only demonstrated university students' outstanding talents in AI application innovation but also injected fresh vitality and momentum into the regional digital economy. It is reported that the winning teams will gain opportunities including inclusion into domestic and overseas project databases, project incubation support, and connections to research resources, facilitating the practical transformation of excellent results.

The competition was jointly organized by The event was jointly organized by Guangxi Finance Vocational College, Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, and the China-Malaysia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of the Digital Economy. It was hosted by Guangxi Tus Innovation Cross-Border E-Commerce Co., Ltd. and Brunsfield TusStar Sdn. Bhd. (TusStar Malaysia).), with strong support from government agencies and institutions of both countries, including Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangxi Committee, and Nanning Municipal Bureau of Data.


This event marks another milestone in deepening the friendly relations between China and Malaysia and fostering collaborative regional digital economic development. In the future, both sides will continue leveraging youth innovation to promote technology sharing and industry upgrading, jointly opening a new chapter of intelligent development.
